    The Weight
    Touch
I Guess I’ll Miss The Man

None of them were singles quality - Touch as documented repeatedly here could’ve worked with the right mix and perhaps a Jean only vocal but there’s yet to be a great version of it released.

Regrettable: Singles that either failed to live up to previous singles and thereby hurt the group's momentum and legacy.

    1. Living in Shame
    2. Forever Came Today
    3. Touch

[I actually liked Forever and Touch but was embarassed by Shame]

Forgettable: Singles that should never have been released as singles.

    1. My Heart Can't Take It No More
    2. The Weight
    3. Bad Weather

[I was disappointed in Bad Weather, considering how hot Stevie
    Wonder was at the time.]

The Weight does belong on this list. It was best left with the Band, no Aretha either.

He's My Man never seemed like a song to me; it was just a bunch of words and instruments put together with no melody.

Touch would have worked with a different mix and a Mary solo lead . I love Jeans voice but sometimes it comes off as shrill.

    My regrettable:

    1) No Matter What Sign You Are
    2) I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do the Walking
    3) Someday We'll Be Together

    Forgettable:

    1) Where Do I Go from Here?
    2) In & Out of Love
    3) You're My Driving Wheel

NB. If The Composer had been issued in the UK it would have been in the regrettable list.

    Regrettable single releases:

    2. The Composer
    3. No Matter What Sign You Are

    Forgettable single releases:
    1. In And Out Of Love
    2. Forever Came Today
    3. Some Things You Never Get Used To

The only regrettable/forgettable single from the DMF era would be Children's Christmas Song.

The 70s Supremes singles were so all over the place that many were regrettable and forgettable. The worst of them would be Automatically Sunshine.

Some of these songs are so forgettable, I actually did not recall them, e.g "The Weight". Yech!

I listened to "Some Things You Never Get Used To" and found it better than I remembered. A little bit more fine tuning and it might have been a hit. I also think that "Forever Came Today" is a mess but it had potential. "No Matter What Sign You are" is garbage. "I'm Living in Shame" has always been atrocious. Shame, indeed!

I'm Living in Shame is pretty embarrassing but at least it's got a good melody and chorus. Just needed lyrics that don't make you vomit.

Forever Came Today, Automatically Sunshine, Someday We'll Be Together & In and Out of Love don't deserve to be mentioned in this thread.

Sadly, most of the other songs named DO belong in this thread.

I think the homemade jam line lends the song a uniqueness that i’m guessing has never been repeated.
If you can live with those lyrics, it’s a good song that Diana sings with conviction. She certainly has me believing every word.

I am actually very fond of He is my man. However, the way you described it, with words and instruments put together is hilarious, so I guess I’ll have to forgive you.

I actually love No Matter What Sign You Are, although it really doesn't sound like a Supremes song. The lyrics really don't stand the test of time; and probably back then already made the song a bit of a novelty song, a bit too gimmicky, but Ross's performance is so energetic, and I love the song's proto-disco sound.

I agree with that; it's not that these songs are all crappy but they didn't deserve to be singles.

Everybody's Got the Right to Love is a Canadian song that was released in Canada by someone before the Supremes and it did quite well. The Supremes did a reasonable job but it was a letdown after Up the Ladder to the Roof.

I love all three of these songs and would prefer to listen to them than any of the tracks on the new Diana Ross album; and I like the new Diana Ross album.

I’m also another fan of “NMWSYA”. I love it’s joyous vibe, not to mention a sassy, sensuous vocal from Diana. The lyrics are a touch novelty twee, but like “Shame”, all other ingredients are in place.
It certainly packs more of a punch then the sweetly polite “Composer”, and should have gone top twenty at the very least.

I personally believe that all singles released in the year 1969, were both regrettable and forgettable. I don’t know what it was about this year of releases, but the songs from this time didn’t stick as much as their others. “The Composer”, “I’ll Try Something New”, “The Weight”, “Why, Must We Fall In Love?”, “Young Folks”. I never understood why these were released as singles.
