Great article about Sarah Dash's role in the groundbreaking trio LaBelle. Indeed her and fellow member Nona Hendryx were the only ones who could keep up with Patti LaBelle and gave LaBelle their one-of-kind-sound. Thanks Luke.

... and, despite girl-next-door beauty of Patti and the Afro-punk alien gorgeousness of Nona it was Sarah who radiated pageant realness. My weekend plan is to find & scan photos from the Reno Sweeney gig.

Indeed. I love the acknowledgment of Sarah Dash. Nona is such a brilliant writer and Patti such a brilliant singer, it is possible to background Sarah's contributions. But one only need listen to "Going Down Makes Me Shiver" and Sarah's "chill!" is the aural equivalent of being hit with ice-cold spray on a hot summer day.
