Am really sad about this even though he was 80. Charlie was a great drummer and his music will live on forever. RIP Charlie.

So many icons who defined my generation [[born in 1959) are rapidly leaving this earth. I'm grateful to have lived through the best times for music the 60s and 70s when rock, soul, funk, reggae, pop etc were all at its peak.

    Charlie Watts, RIP :'[[

I was just listening to Exile on Main St. earlier today. Massive loss. Rest in power, Mr. Watts.

I own two of his albums: Long Ago and Faraway & Warm and Tender.
The vocalist on these albums is Bernard Fowler and they are really great jazzy and soulful albums full of classic songs.

Read a great Charlie Watts story the other day. In a hotel on tour, Mick rouses Charlie out of a sound sleep in the wee hours to play an impromptu set. “Where’s Charlie! Wake him up, I need my drummer!” After this rude awakening, Charlie proceeds to put on his suit and tie and heads to the lobby, where he coldcocks Mick square in the face. “Don’t you EVER fucking pull this shit again! You’re MY SINGER!!!”😁😁😁😁

The story where the band is leaving a rehearsal and already on the street when Charlie has to return to his drums because the drum sticks weren't placed properly on his drums. You got to love a guy like that.

thank you Charlie Watts for keeping the Stones thumping sound popular in the discos throughout the era:

    no drum machines for you!
    well done!!
    RIP
