Heard an interesting take on "Up the Ladder to the Roof"

Went to a wedding over the weekend and the couple's wedding song was "Up the Ladder to the Roof". Not only that but it was the extended version Midnight Johnny created with the missing verse. It was absolutely beautiful. One of the grooms explained his feelings on the song before it started and he felt the song was about two lovers going through life together. The ladder being life symbolically and together in the afterlife: the roof. It teared me as I never heard that theory on the song's lyrics before.
