what if - Touch was a duet between the Tops and the Sups?

with the recent discussion of why Touch [[the single) flopped, i started looking at dates. the recording dates started in late Feb and looks like the girls recorded their parts in March, with additional dates in May. The single had more dates as Frank tinkered with it in July [[after the Touch lp was out).

so from a date perspective, it definitely was something that could have been done for Return of Mag 7? Levi and Jean doing the bulk with additional lines passed around the group members.

maybe that would have given it more a chance

If Touch was a duet I would have Mary duetting with Lawrence on it

i think how they divided parts and lines up in You Got What It Takes and Reach Out And Touch. I think if J and Levi handled the opening and maybe did half of the lines, the others could join in.

the released recording itself had lots of vocal overlays - those would be interesting to layer in the male voices too. Could have been really sexy and steamy having the groups do such a passionate duet

That's a much better idea but with Jean and Levi. Maybe Mary could have adlibbed a few lines here and there and a better arrangement. There were all kinds of possibilities but as it was, I doubt it would have done much more.

My thing is since Touch was written with Mary in mind it would make since for her to do the female lead and have Jean adlib a few lines. Either Levi or Lawrence to do the male vocals would be cool with me.
