You Can Depend On Me Question

The Lost And Found cd booklet lists the track as October 1960 as the suggested recording date then it states - tape box dated July 11 1961 [["likely the tape wind date")..my question is what exactly does tape wind mean?..is that when the track is transferred to a master tape ? Any explanation would be greatly appreciated

Great question! I don't know the answer. However, this has me needing to pull out my L&F booklet to read over again. It must have escaped me that there was a record date for "Depend". I suspect I haven't read it since it's release, so it's time to give it another read.

According to DFTMC there have been two version released, but neither one includes a recording date. The first version is on Let The Music Play: Supreme Rarities and the second version was released on Meet The Supremes - EE.

I'm gonna make a guess here, but perhaps there was a tape that was being used either specifically for The Supremes [[or for any specific group?) or there was a single tape being used to record material for EVERYONE recording at Motown in 1960/61 where it stayed on the machine [[or the pair in one box?) until the tape was full...and then the tape wound be wound back to the beginning, boxed, and put in the library for potential single/album need? Just a guess. In 1960-61, I can't imagine Motown had the equipment they did just a few years later so things were done differently in those early days.

Andy or George [[since they documented it in those sets) would know what it specifically means. Ralph [[or Russ?) might even be able to at least give us an idea?
