Tony Jackson also recorded a version of Martha & Vandellas "Never Leave Your Baby's Side".

The version of "Do You Love Me?" by Liverpool group Faron's Flamingos was in my opinion better than the hit versions by Brian Poole & The Tremeloes and The Dave Clark 5.

In addition to "Leaving Here" and "You're A Wonderful One", The Birds recorded a third Marvin Gaye song, "No Good Without You Baby".

Does anyone know if any British invasion groups recorded any Phil Spector tracks? I can only think of Mike Berry's backing group, The Innocents' reworking of Darlene Love's "A Fine Fine Boy" under the title of "A Fine Fine Bird".

Both The Beatles and Peter and Gordon recorded the same Spector song "To Know You Is To Love You" by Peter and Gordon and "To Know Her Is To Love Her" The Beatles.

Some recorded "I Love How You Love Me" [[including Billy Fury) and

The Searchers recorded "Da Doo Ron Ron" and also "Be My Baby",

I don't know if this still holds true, but Johnny Rivers told me a few years ago that his version of Baby I Need Your Lovin was the biggest selling Motown cover by a White Artist...

I don't know if Dave Stewart or Barbara Gaskin are considered "British Invasion"; however they are British artists who did a most wonderful cover/interpretation of the Four Tops' "Different World."

While not exactly 'British Invasion' the Australian group 'The Twilight's were formed by young British migrants to South Australia in 1964.

In August 1966 they had a big hit downunder with their version of 'Needle in A Haystack'.

Lead vocalist was Glenn Shorrock - he was to play a major part in an 'Aussie invasion' of the US charts in the late 70s/early 80s as lead singer of the 'Little River Band'.

Lead guitarist was Terry Britten who went on to be hugely successful as a song-writer in the 70s/80s. He was best known for his work with Tina Turner , but many other top artists [[inc Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder) recorded his songs.

Although some of the versions listed above were quite competent, I didn't come close to liking any of them as much as the original.

NOTE. Dusty Springfield is a special case and should be excluded from the above statement.

I didn’t realise how many covers there were of "Leaving Here”, there's even a live version by Motörhead!

[[Not British Invasion I know )

I did think it had a rock song vibe
