Loving these previews of the unreleased tracks! Susaye's lead on I'm Gonna Let My Heart was great!

superb show! enjoyed the new songs and the susaye and mary leads! and although the delays have been explained, it still translates to poor customer support. the fans have ALWAYS been the bread & butter of the supremes--and they still are. don't take us for granted. 2004 to 2011 is completely unacceptable and time will tell in sales if this is acceptable by enough fans.

Folks....thank you so much for your kind words about the show...and your support. It was such a pleasure chatting with Andy...and he was enormously generous with his time, inviting us to experience [[in a mere 3 hours) his life, career and his love for the Supremes and Motown. I truly can't thank him enough for doing that. He said he will do this again...I can't wait!
    Once again...thank you ALL!

Susaye...so glad you were part of the show tonight. Thanks for your kind words. I am very excited about hearing your unreleased material on the "Final Sessions" set...as well as Scherrie's, Cindy's and Mary's. And to know that "Partners" lies up the road for us all....I'm even more thrilled. You are deeply loved.....thank you.

Yes, you're right, the fans have always played an important role. I don't think Andy or MidnightJohnny would dispute that. I think the point that was being communicated last night is that delays happen and it's really out of Andy's control. He works hard to get that fantastic stuff into our hands. It's the executives who make the final decisions as to where their money goes and what get's released and when it get's released. That's just the way it is.

I didn't realize it had been 6 years between Volume 1 and 2. Time goes by so quickly!

but a starry-eyed consumer being complacent isn't going to get the music business out of the dumper. i've been involved in sales since the early sixties. folks who run a business know this to the core. when the record companies failed, fans and consumers develop bootlegs and now youtube creations. that was all lost money for the industry. Nobody blames Mr. Skurow for delays and I'm sure he said he'd like to do future projects for sale. we shall hope the industry can always employ the talented Andy and not have to shut down studios like they did on the east coast this year.

    Chester....thanks!

However, I completely agree with Carlo. Once the project is completed by the technical and artistic staff, they can't be blamed for how and when the executives decide to handle the release. That's why I appreciated Andy's teaching us about the difficulty in releasing a project. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the project itself. Things get shelved...things get bumped. To me, customer support has more to do with problems with receiving a product after it's bought [[late mailing) or
damaged goods. I don't think it's customer support when the complete project hasn't been finalized...and that, to me, means ready for sale...not merely because I am impatient about it's release.

and here i thought it was about sales
seems like the very fact it was brought up means customers have not been happy. not very sure if those folks will truly switch to "happy" about future problems. good thing there is no competition in this particular re-issue section.
i hope this project gets purchased through Hip-O for their budgeted asking price. that's real support of the company as well as Andy! Hip-O sent an e-mail saying my order would arrive 5-2-2011. but others have said on facebook the site is currently down.

Just because Volume 2 has taken a while to come out doesn't mean fans aren't going to buy it. Sure it would definitely help having Vol. 1 and 2 released almost simultaneously or within a short time of each other...that's what Andy wanted to do. He mentioned that. But it's out of his control. It's up to the exec's. Not only that, but like you said, the music industry is in a slump, so with that taken into consideration, unfortunately the Supremes are no longer considered a priority. To these high ranking business-men at UMG, this Supremes release probably doesn't really mean much to them. They don't care about music. They care about money and business. That's why the music industry has slumped, in my opinion. People at the top are making poor decisions and the business side is hindering the creativity. I know the Supremes don't sell millions anymore, which is why they don't get priority and tend to have their releases delayed...but the fans [[including myself) are still out there. We are a very loyal bunch, so most of us are still more than willing to support the product when it comes out, regardless of how terrible Hip-O Select's customer support team is. These releases are catered to us loyal fans. So if you're loyal, you're gonna buy it either way. And thank goodness for people like Andy and HW and George. It's fantastic to still have some creative geniuses out there, working for the fans, in the midst of the slumping music industry that is being characterized by commercialism and business. They're doing their best to keep the legacy of Motown going strong. I'm sure it's just as frustrating to them as it is to us, or even more so.

What he said. I think we Motown fans have been spoiled over the past 25 years or so. I, for one, am very thankful for all the incredible and well thought out releases over the years. It's been quite amazing, if you stop and think about all that's been released for us fans. I'm sure those people like HW and Andy would probably just appreciate a heartfelt thank you sometimes instead of griping and complaining about things outside of their control. Can't we all just say something positive and appreciate what we have? Things in the world are not perfect, and will never be perfect. Let's be thankful and supportive for what we've been given.

Ross you are so right. I'm just glad that they [[ whoever they maybe) even consider releasing these items. Some didn't sale that well when they were originally released. I would like to thank whoever had a hand with this project.
Also thank you to MJ for giving us a preview to what's to come. Andy and Susaye, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to be interviewd by Mj.
And to MJ, I think you are getting a soft spot for Mary
Again thank you for The Final Sessions, I look forward to having many more from Andy, Harry & Company Keep up the Great Work that you do for us fans

I checked up. Supreme titles have been listed since Hip-O started. Doesn't look like any have sold out; even limited editions. Plus other sellers, like Amazon, have plenty in stock. Hip-O could benefit from a good shot of advertising and reliable marketing. Don't kid yourself. Sales are key for future endeavors. And great publicity.

Thanks everyone who listened, and thank you John P. I had a great time! 3 hours flew by, and I realized, there was so much we didn't discuss! I'll have to learn how to shorten my responses! It will be fun to do it again when the set comes out.

Hey Ramone, you have to click into the titles to see if they're sold out. Last Time I Saw Him, Lost & Found, and Where Did Our Love Go Deluxe are all sold out. I guess that's a good thing?

    Be well everyone!

    Andy
