"Patti LaBelle, Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand: American Idols, Now and Always."NYT

Where is the mention of Diana Ross? I believe Diana Ross should have been recognized as an American Idol in this week's Sunday New York Times Style Magazine which showcases American Divas. Perhaps, since the magazine article was written during the current Covid-19 pandemic, Ms.Ross is most likely taking strict precautions.

Ms. Ross, we all miss seeing you in concert.
Anyway, a mention of Ms.Ross would rightly serve to include her in this legendary ensemble.

    p.s.
Does Ms.Ross read this tribute log? I know Ms.Ross is internet savvy by her Twitter and Instagram posts. Imagine if she posted responses here at Soulful Detroit under a pseudo nametag!

I started my Motown Album Collection on a Saturday morning shopping day. On the same day, I walked about 3 miles to the record store and purchased,The Supremes Greatest Hits Volume I and The Supremes Sing and Perform Funny Girl. I was so excited and eager to listen to these albums that I took the bus back home! Still,I love to listen to them.
The Christmas Album was my next purchase. I think I bought in on sale in July. "Silver Bells" in the stores is still played on rotation. We need a Christmas Special with the grandkids.

Her voice is still gorgeous as in her heartfelt singing of "My Man" at Motown 60!

Apparently there was only room for one Black diva. Assuming these three are the only three spotlighted. If you think about it, each of those ladies represents mega popular genres and styles of music, so readers probably get someone that they really dig. Patti and Diana, and I guess maybe even Barbra and Diana, have overlapping audiences. Choosing either of them over Diana shouldn't really raise an eyebrow.

Of course when they do their second installment and spotlight Mary Wilson...

A Christmas special with the grandkids? That made me laugh out loud. Her grandson in one of the most annoying things on the planet, riding in the coattails of his famous grandma and auntie. But I guess we all gotta get our feet in the door somewhere.

With all due respect, the author, Mark Anthony Neal, of the focus magazine article on Patti Labelle, acknowledges Ms. Ross' musical legacy within the magazine article.

He's 11 years old. Lets not do that. Children should be off limits, even here.
