Seems to be quite common to use that song to pick us all up.

Since the subject of the AMAs has come up I have two questions.......1) What in the world happened to Th Weeknd or however he spells it? and 2) Was there an In Memoriam segment like the Oscars and Emmys always have?

I DVRed the show but I am so out of touch with today's music that it would bore me to death to sit through it.

Diana Ross posted A Brand New Day on Facebook; I'm not familiar enough with video's of it but it was quite a bright video so it seemed to me it did not come from The Wiz.

The Weeknd has been playing with a blood-and-gore theme for this latest release. I think the bandages were more of a Lady Gaga-esque artistic/aesthetic statement than anything.

I must say that this is one of the first years that I didn't watch the show live and upon fast-forwarding through the recording, I found nothing I wanted to keep. I can't say that I'm totally surprised as the past few years have been pointing to this. But to find that I now hardly care about the AMAs and to a lesser extent, the Grammys, is rather sad for me.

Back to your post, while fast-forwarding, I don't recall seeing an IN MEMORIAM segment.

I did the same thing...fast forwarded and as you said, there was nothing to salute artists that passed away. Good thing we do such a good job of that on here.

Interesting comments about the AMA’s. The AMA’s and Grammy’s used to be such a highlight for me. I also DVR’ed and sadly found nothing that caught my attention fast-forwarding through the show.
