A Cellarful Of Motown Vol 5

FINALLY ten years on from the last volume and coming in the first two weeks of September the much awaited latest volume of Cellarful Of Motown. I make no excuses for the fact that unusually it has tracks that have been released previously. Most of these have appeared in downloads or on other compilations but luckily in most of those cases I am bringing you new mixes. This is being released by Caroline Records part of the Universal Group and all I can ask [[for it is looking unlikely) that if you want to see more releases like this that you support it and if possible drop the record company a line telling them how much you appreciate it - I should be able to supply a track list later this morning.Name: CAROLR090-PROOF2-1.jpg

Thud! Pick me up off the floor. I never would have thought that we would see another volume of this wonderful series. Congratulations, Paul and thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope we all get behind this release and in doing so, see many more Motown releases.

As I said earlier in the main those tracks that have been released before appear here in different mixes where possible there are just a couple of cases where the delay in getting this released has caused duplication with downloads or other releases.

Paul: For prospective buyers in the USA, where would the quickest source to purchase it be? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Cellarful 5 - that's music to my ears and looks fantastic. Deserves all our full support.

I guess when Amazon finally get around to listing it that may well be the easist although I am guessing Dusty Groove in Chicago will stock it

I will likely buy this but for some reason it appears less exciting than some of its predecessors. Probably because the quintet of Supremes, Vandellas, Marvelettes, Velvelettes, and Pips are only represented by four total cuts by my count. Yes, the Ann Bogan songs may be a nice consolation but I want as much of my girls as I can get!!!

THANK YOU, Paul, for not letting this series completely fade away! The track list looks good and I'm glad to know that some of the things that were digital-only before are getting new [[I'm reading it as "better") mixes!

I'm also excited that "The Truth Does Hurt" [[long a bootleg fav) is FINALLY being officially released. I just wish The Supremes had put down vocals to it. Mayyyyybe someday vocals might be found? In the meantime, it's a totally early hit-streak, HDH stomper complete with honking sax break!

I've long-since learned my lesson. Consider this release purchased by me and I'll let the record company know how pleased I am, too!

OH! One last thing: Will this have complete recording date annotations? I love having all the different dates recording took place rather than just a weak, "[[track) completed 09-Mar-67."

Thank you again for keeping "The Cellar" warm for all of us!

It's the same song as recorded by Tammi and also The Temptations with Dennis Edwards on lead. Now we're getting Eddie on lead, gonna be fab.

You`re safe daviddesper! Bursting with excitement. I only played all the earlier ones a couple of days ago and longing for another - wow. Lots of goodies, Brian Holland, Funks,

Caroline were involved in the Soul Music Records Valerie Simpson 2FER "Exposed" and "Valerie Simpson" CD

Pre-ordered Cellarful 5 from Amazon along with ACE's "The Sound of the R&B Hits" so as to get free delivery on both.

Also ordered DRATS "Funny Girl" Ultimate Edition and already pre-ordered Kiki Dee for the month after.

This is proving all too expensive - but how exciting lol.

And best get saving up for 2030 when Cellarful 6 comes out lol

I thought the COVID would put an end to all new Motown releases. This COM5 is a dream come true.
I’m considering buying as much copies as possible so it won’t be the last time we’re greeted with a genuine real addition to our motown collection.
I just can’t put into words how glad and thankful I am to Paul Nixon and all of those who made this possible.
My return on SDF tonight after a few weeks away is a dream coming true.
While late august usually is the moment when I discover that some of my heroes has passed away during the summer, 2020 will be different. We all needed that I guess...
You’ve made me so very happy... :-)

Too bad this took so long to surface, but thanks much Paul. I'll definitely be supporting this release. I see that there's a Tommy Good track "I Found My Love In You". Is this perhaps the lone studio track that was left off of his "Motown Collection" due to the tape being damaged?. If so did you guys have time to make repairs or just prepared a new mix from the original multi track?

That's awesome! I loved the first four Cellarful albums, and I'm pumped that this fifth one will soon be released!

The supplied duplicate master for this track was substandard for the TG Collection and when further investigation found an alternate it made sense to hold onto it for a collection such as this.

The picture posted was from an early artwork mock up - originally it was planned to release just before last Christmas but gremlins got in [[one of a long line of the little beggers who have thwarted this album for the past few years) and it was postponed until March - then Covid came along so put back until this month. I'm sure the artwork will have been modified on the new finished copies.

I signed up with Dusty Grooves as you suggested and they will let me know when they get a supply in. I assume everyone will have problems with the current situation as far as delivery. Our USPS in the USA is in a sad state of affairs. Medicines cannot even get through without delays. So I guess if it drags out until Christmas, this will be my Christmas gift to myself.

It is so good to see Keith Hughes posting here.
I did take note that he was not mentioned as being involved in the upcoming Ace Tamla/Motown release. I hope that all is well with him.
