Diana Ross' 6.7 million monthly Spotify listeners

This is the statistic that shows at the top of her Spotify profile. Quite impressive, especially when you consider the fact that this doesn't include the additional 4 million monthly listeners also registered for The Supremes on Spotify. I noticed that she is surpassing Barbra Streisand, who has 3 million monthly listeners at the moment. Perhaps that would change if Barbra had a brand new release available for streaming. She's also close to Cher, who has 7 million monthly listeners. Either way, with all of those people streaming Ms Ross' music on a monthly basis, it's no wonder that Universal has been putting out these recent compilations [[Diamond Diana, Wonderful Christmas Time, Supertonic). Having new product available for streaming is clearly to their own benefit. Hopefully her new album isn't too far off.

The current top 5 listening areas are:

    London UK
    Mexico City
    Sydney Australia
    Amsterdam Netherlands
    Sao Paulo Brazil

London and Amsterdam are generally in the top 5 and other countries which have appeared regularly are Chile and Peru.

Can't explain why the London figure is so high at the minute at 142k+ a month - it has regularly been at around 70/ 80k even during all the publicity about her aborted tour.

Interesting at the Aussie figures - Diana didn't have that many hits there.

She is very popular in South America with probably a lot of the figures coming from listeners to the Diana/ Marvin combination.

Apparently they were huge in Brazil with Stop Look Listen being a #1 and You Are Everything reaching #8.

    Nice!
But it's gonna probably take a while for her to catch up to her peers:

Marvin has over 12 million listeners despite being dead since 1984.
Stevie has over 14 million listeners.

But as far as everyone else on Motown [[excluding MJ since most of his most played material has been his post-Motown work), Diana is above everyone else. Still the Queen of Motown.

But that is Marvins and Stevie’s entire career. If you counted her entire career with and without the Supremes she would be almost right up there with them.

Least she has more than Babs lol
The way people were going on about her, you would've thought she had more than what she did. Diana is doing great in the streaming era.

They are also men. I know the reference to peers meant other Motown alumni. It’s a better comparison when you do ladies. Barbra, Cher, Bette, Gladys, Patti, etc.

If we add the 4 million Supremes listeners [[which I feel we should, because Diana's voice sold most of those songs!) to Diana's 6.7 million, she is way up there!

And 500 000 more for the Diana Ross & The Supremes entry.

Donna Summer is above 4 000000 and Dionne Warwick about 2000 000
    Chaka 5 000 000

So Diana voice is heard by 11 000 000 people !

This report, along with the 'Pose' finale and the positive response here, makes me very, very happy. Despite the best efforts of some [past, present & probably future] to denigrate Diana's accomplishments and talent [even here on a forum which is meant to celebrate music] these types of cultural references and hard data prove that Diana Ross has had a tremendous positive effect on many, many lives.

Again, you look for demons where none exist.
