Oh yes indeed 9A, Mahler [[!) and others similar.

A certain sad mood in music can be just fine, a melancholy tone too, should the occasion call for it..

But if you are not feeling depressed at the opening of some of those slow, mournful classical pieces which can seem never-ending, there's a risk of being so by the time the finale is reached. And then you're expected to applaud after being made sad....

Each to their own, of course - but, for me, Happy People produce Happy Music, for other Happy People.

Protest song about fare increase of Bostonś Metropolitan Transit Authority.

    Did he ever return?
    No he never returned

Note: I´ve degenerated into ¨novelty¨ songs that I like -- whether silly or not.
They have such interesting stories on Wikipedia.

When I´m Sixty-Four -- The Beatles [[1967) Written by McCartney when he was 16.

McCartney's children recorded a special version of "When I'm Sixty-Four" at Abbey Road Studios as a surprise present for McCartney's 64th birthday in June 2006, and played it for him at his birthday party.

I have to tell you guys -- frequently, when I don´t recognize a song title, I play it on Youtube. Usually, I recognize the song. Ralph says he played about half of them while in the Sunliners. Great toe tappers.

Oh My Darling, Clementine -- American western folk ballad [[1863), numerous variations

It is unclear when, where and by whom the song was first recorded in English, but the first version to reach the Billboard charts was that by Bing Crosby recorded on June 14, 1941, which briefly reached the No. 20 spot.

Thanks for recommending that. It was terrific. Reminiscent of Mack The Knife. Bobby Darin was truly talented. Taken way too young.

Bein' Green" [[also known as "It's Not Easy Bein' Green") originally performed by Jim Henson as Kermit the Frog on both Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. It later was covered by Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, and other performers, such as Diana Ross and Tony Bennett.

I wouldn't consider "Bein' Green" a silly song at all. It's a powerful song about difference and self-acceptance.

I totally agree. That is why so many big artists chose to sing it. I would call it ¨charming¨ since it was first sung by a frog puppet. Much of Sesame Street, and the Muppets, was written for the adults watching. Jim Henson was a true genius. I read that Big Bird sang this song at his funeral.
