What's Going On.. With the Ace/Kent [[U.K.) label?

After so many wonderful collections, the next Motown offering is

Has there been a change of leadership? We all know that the Motown well has not run dry.....

At this point, I’m kinda skeptical about remaining unreleased songs from the sixties. If it wasn’t good enough to be included in the MU series, it’s probably not worth hearing.

There's a weird thing going on in the UK at the moment of Greatest Hits compilations dominating the charts during lockdown. Everyone's after something comfortable and familiar, I guess. So I'd say this was as good a time as any for Ace to release a Motown best-of, albeit with an appropriately historical background.

I'm not sure what else we want from them? Well, I do as it's what I want too but it's extremely niche. I'm very excited about their upcoming Kenny Carter CD though, and a release like that suggests it's definitely still the same leadership.

It's always nice to hear unreleased songs from Motown artist. Even if some are not very good it's still better than throwing them all in a bin and forget about it. We can all make up our own minds if the songs are good or not rather then let other people decide and never have the songs released. I do admit that I often listen online first before buying a CD. Just saw that Playboy, by the Marvelettes, had a alternate version on the Baby I've got it! More Motown girls. Wonder if there are more alternate versions of their songs.

It's an expanded reissue of a 1963 comp from the Stateside label.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's an LP reissue of this comp in the near future as well.

I'd like Ace to finish their Mary Wells album reissues, by pairing the first album with the mono version of "My Guy."
