    Your Favorite “My Guy"

Quite a few people [[e.g., Supremes, Pet Clark, Sister Sledge) have covered Mary Wells’ smash “My Guy” but has anyone come close to equaling her version? IMO, a very young Aretha Franklin did. What do you think of her version and whose is your favorite cover? Here’s the link to Aretha:

I like Aretha's version as well as those by the Supremes and Sister Sledge. But I don't think any of them equal Mary's original.

It's Mary Wells or Bust! "My Guy" is one of those songs that I don't like to hear remakes of. I can tell you that my least favorite version of the song is by Sister Sledge.

Motown wise there's a version by Barbara McNair which is fine and also one by The Boones. But there's no getting away from the fact that Mary Wells' version cannot be beaten.

No doubt about it gman! Her ad-libbed imitation of Mae West at the end of the song is brilliant!
