I don't recall seeing or hearing about this release before your post. I just pulled up the release on YouTube Music and played the entire album and it is well worth the time to listen to it. You really get to hear just how sweet and pure Smokey's voice is, it's really quite beautiful. Baby, Baby Don't Cry really stands out as well as all of his solo tracks. I also think that Pete, Bobby, Ronnie and Claudette background vocals are grossly overlooked and underrated, their harmonies and sweetness are really on display on these stripped down mixes. The Tracks of My Tears clock in at a whopping 3:58, while the released version is only 2.53. Baby, Baby Don't Cry clocks in at 5.26 while the album version is only 4.03 and the 45 version is 3:55. Have the unedited extended versions of either song been released elsewhere before? Baby, Baby Don't Cry is quite stunning in the stripped version.

It certainly is Soulwally. I remember Tony Blackburn playing this on the morning show.
Too subtle for UK pop fan's taste .

Re these mixes...they are new to me.
Is it 100% recordings taken from the original tracks..or are there any recent overdubs included.
Most of what I hear sounds like the original track but some things are maybe added??

Agreed, especially considering it went Top 10 on both the R&B and Pop charts!

When I hear things like "Baby Baby Don't Cry" or "The Love I Saw In You Was Just A Mirage", I can't help but think, if these were songs done by The Beatles or even The Mamas And The Papas, the world would be breaking their everlovin' necks heaping praises all over the songs. There was exceptional beauty in these songs and both showed Smokey and company as truly progressive composers and artists, yet it seems both songs aren't really heard much [[if at all) on oldies radio these days.

All from the multitracks Snake, but elements mixed out etc., hence the 'Stripped'!

    Cheers

Thanks guys I'm listening to it right now and it's incredible ! The songs sound clearer without all the strings on the original versions.
I went to amazon but it was only available in mp3 Do you know where I can order the CD ? Thanks in advance.

I would love to see a Stripped Mix for Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and D. Ross.

I agree these songs, especially the ones from the 60s sound much clearer.
