I remember seeing him do this exact same performance on the Academy Awards that year:

I watched this three times in a row...dang, I wish I had been there to see this live. They
went all out to stage this for Ike and that cat playing the tambourine is obviously pleased
with the choreography....Shaft btw, is stil a hell of a track....

It would have been a dream to be there live. "Shaft" was so popular at the time that my future high school band played it and worked out this elaborate choreography to it!
