Gladys Knight and The Pips - Home Is Where The Heart Is

This sounds like a Van McCoy production:

One of my favorites is “Giving Up” which Van McCoy wrote and produced on Gladys and the Pips in 1964.

marv2, have you heard Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings' version of “Giving Up”? It’s a very faithful cover. Here it is:

I remember the song also was used in the 1976 film, "Sparkle". It was used in the death scene of "Sister" played by Lonette McKee.

Sharon Jones was such a great singer. I wished she was still here. "Giving Up" has the same flavor as Ben E. King's 1963 classic, "I Who Have Nothing".

Oh my goodness. The Still Together album is part of the fabric of my youth. Seconded in my bedroom I would play the album to death. “Home Is” was always my favourite track. As Gladys would say, brings back memories of a time when life was slow and oh so mellow.
