I am familiar with some of these...I like a few of the Mary Wells cuts, and I think I had Shake Sherry on 16 Hits vol 2

Mary Well's Bye Bye Baby always reminded me of Ike and Tina's A FOOL IN LOVE...which I knew first....

I & TT made lots of good music...the TOO HOT TOO HOLD Lp and the single It's All Over are 2 of my early favs...later, '68 - '75 I prefer their live recordings to the studio work...In Person '68, and the 2 LP sets Live at Carnegie Hall and World of, Live in Europe..great LPs

Anyone else thinks this one sounds like a 1962 calypso Motown tune?

This. Is. Spooky. Yes, it sound VERY much like a Motown/Calypso number. If you told me it was, I'd believe it. Just went and checked out some of his other stuff. I'd swear it was recorded back in the early 60's. How are they getting such an authentic sound? It's VERY hard to believe these are things that have been recorded recently, meaning it's that good.

That James Hunter Six track's sound surprised me.

Hey thanks WaitingWatching!! It is spooky isn’t it?! I'm not quite sure how they do it, but they do it pretty well!!! I think it might have something to do with them being signed to the Daptone label, who have a fantastic ensemble of musicians and producers, able to recreate such authentic sounds. All of their four albums are worth checking out!

Glad you enjoyed soulwally I think it’s all the more brilliant knowing the song is less than a year old!

I did check out some of their other tunes and it just keeps getting more incredible. I had heard about Daptone after hearing something by Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings. Seems they were in the same retro groove. I'll have to go back and check them out too.

Thanks Tom for spotlighting this band! Just when you think there is nothing new to discover, Whamm-O!
