Sorry marv, but for me this is everything she should not have been doing. This was not the way forward.

The way she started "Stoned Love" was mostly good. It's when the song kicks into the next gear that things go south. The Supremes medley just re-enforces my previously stated opinion that her voice is wrong for the lead of those hits. "The Way We Were"...Mary actually has one of the three versions of the song that I actually like, the one she sang on a TV show early in her solo career. The version in this video did nothing for me. And as she sang "She Works Hard", I was thinking where is Diana when you need her to push someone's microphone down?

The band is cool. Not a fan of the background singers. Mary looks great and the show is full of 80s energy, which I love. But yeah Ollie, this aint it. With the right tunes, Mary could've killed it.

Jet Magazine carried a nice still photo of this concert. When I finally got to see it on video around 1990, I knew something was wrong. It was not Mary at her best and she appeared to be treating this show as just another gig, plus some other things I noticed.

She seemed rushed. Good job on stoned love.
