Rest In Peace John Perrone a.k.a Midnight Johnny

It is with great sadness I pass on the following information that has just been forwarded to me. John Perrone who posted here as Midnight Johnny has passed away from COVID-19. John's WOMR.org radio program "Nightflight" was very popular here at SDF and there was always a thread at SDF that ran in real time with the show so we listener's could converse together [[and with John) as we listened to the music.

It was John's show that brought me to SDF in the first place. We eventually became very good friends and I did a number of "Listener's Choice Shows" with John interviewing me on the program about my choices. Such fun. I have very fond memories of those days.

At a point the show thread moved to facebook to accommodate his ever growing audience. Over time we lost track of each other and I hadn't spoken to him in quite awhile. Rest In Peace John. You did good. Thank you.

I see that a thread has already been started by Copley in the Motown section. I was unaware of that thread when I posted mine.

John was a champion of the music of Motown and Philadelphia and brought joy to his listeners.

Yes he did Jim, he brought much joy. It's amazing how fast today becomes the good old days. We all had a lot of fun back then listening to the show together. Good times.

John had a very great talent and was an expert communicator.

I just wish I had all Midnight Johnny's fabulous extended Motown mixes on CD....
