Here's another TV show the Supremes are mentionned to have performed :
the Brad Davis Show. It's a local tv show in Hartford, Connecticut, that was aired on Saturdays. The show ended in 1969.

Again, it seems to be hard to find further information in newspapers archives and tv programs. Does anyone know anything about it ? [[a year of broadcast ?)

Laurent I don't know anything about it, but I wonder if this was a Flo era appearance. Not having studied their itinerary as closely as you and some others, I'm of the thought that by the time of DRATS they were no longer doing these local "small time" shows. Would that be accurate? If so, I'm guessing the time frame might be 64-66, maybe 67. Just a guess.

That’s exactly what I think also, RanRan79. They seldom did American local TV shows after Flo’s departure. Usually they did a local tv show while in the area for a concert. I checked all the dates they performed in Connecticut on the site:
    - Friday December 3, 1965
    - Monday July 9, 1966
    - Wednesday March 10, 1967
    - Sunday October 5, 1969

To me, the most probable date is in 1965, with a TV show probably taped on Dec 3 and a broadcast on Dec 4. But it could also be the in July 1966. Their schedule around March 10, 1967 seems too hectic to include the taping of a tv show. It is very unlikely in October 1969 as the group did only national tv shows at that time and were on their Farewell tour. The Brad Davis show also ended in 1969, so I suppose it ended before the summer and that it did not begin a new season.

This is of course only my guess I hope someone recall something about this show or have a clipping or anything… 😊

i don't know about this. i think it's certainly possible they would do local tv shows as they toured. they would have continued to have local PR events with djs and stations, on-air interviews and all. here are some examples of their concerts in 1969 that shows the big high-end flashy dates and the more standard concert dates. if they were doing this for concerts, there's no reason to think they wouldn't also do with tv shows

    Frontier Hotel - early 69
1/24 Ashland Physical Ed Center, Ashland OH
    2/22 Anaheim Convention Center
    3/8 Assembly Hall, Champaign IL

    4/4 Deauville Hotel, Miami
June 2 - 15 Latin Casino, Cherry Hill, NJ
    6/28 Flamingo Hilton, Vegas
6/30 - July 6 Carter Barron Theater, DC

After all these years as a Supremes fan and a keen hunter for any info on tv apperances i still find it hard to fathom that we know absolutley know nothing of their final apperance on the Tonight Show days before Sullivan, we dont know what they sang,or what they wore or if they were interviewed...we know nothing for a pretty important date in their itinerary..One of, for me, the greatest mysteries in The Supremes cannon.

I think their last TONIGHT SHOW appearance with Diana was around the time of G.I.T. ON BROADWAY so they could have been promoting that.

When they were appearing in later 1969 did they acknowledge at their concerts that this was their farewell tour?

unfortunately most of these older Tonight Show films were wiped. there's the one from DMF doing Happening. and there's the audio from the MLK appearance. but that's pretty much it i think.

the girls were also on the Today show often, but nothing.

The girls appeared on the Tonight Show twice in 1969. Once in March and then again in November.

The November appearance they sang "The Lady Is A Tramp/Let's Get Away From It All" again and then Diana sat down with Johnny to promote G.I.T. On Broadway. I have a costume sketch from Michael Travis of the outfit Diana wore for the November appearance. Sequin/beaded vest with black & white striped pants.

The March appearance is interesting because it was before "The Composer" was released. It's possible they could have performed "I'm Living In Shame" as it hit top 10 a few weeks prior.

nice! so that just might be the tv debut of You Can't Hurry Love. although legend has it that the song was released on 7/25 and they appeared on Sullivan the 24th, debuting it the evening before, that's not the case. the famous sullivan appearance was from Sept, after the song had hit #1.

They recorded the vocals on 7/5 [[Diana, Mary and Marlene). It was then released on 7/25

the first tv show appearance i have is 8/18 on The Tonight Show. that's the only tv spot i know of in August. they did a few university appearances, the Civic Center on 8/19 in Virginia Beach, Forrest Hills NYC on 8/20 and then the Michigan State Fair from 8/26 - 30.

    then comes the Asia Tour

    Arrive in Tokyo on 9/2
    9/3 Tachikawa Officer's Club
    9/4 USS Coral Sea
9/5 press conference at Tokyo Hotel Ohtani

other appearances on the tour include Kajikawa Naval Base, Club 13 in Taipei Taiwan, Hong Kong City Hall Auditorium, Kingsland Club in Hong Kong, Manila, Philippines.

    Sullivan on 9/25
    Roostertail on 9/26
Harvest Moon Ball at Madison Square Garden, NYC on 9/27
    Flamingo Hotel Debut 9/29 - 10/19.

It's actually not the TV debut of You Can't Hurry Love. There's one prior the Tonight Show and the Ed Sullivan Show.
