Where was "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" by Jean Carn recorded?

I’ve recently been wondering where “Don’t Let It Go To Your Head” by Jean Carn was recorded.

When I first heard it in the late 70s as a new US import single on Philadelphia International I was surprised that it didn’t have the expected Philly sound. Instead of the normal lush strings there was what sounded like a very small string section with double tracking and a piercing cheap sound. On listening to it more recently on CD, however, much of the sound apart from those strings is really high quality, and I can hear little Philly-type elements such as the crash cymbal and guitar. The overall mix itself sounds most un-Philly like, however.

Does anyone know the story behind the recording of this classic track?

    Interesting. Many thanks.

Am I alone in thinking that it sounds atypical of Philly?

Just looked at the label of the single on ebay. Says it all.

By the time that song came out, the tracks had a slightly different sound than the 72-76 “Golden Era”. Most of the key members of MFSB left PIR after a salary dispute and were replaced with new people.

But, by contrast, you could hear the Philly DNA in tracks like "Ain't No Stopping Us Now". That track had the familiar Philly string sound.

If anything, it's the cheap sounding strings that get me on DLIGTYH.

First of all thank you Sotosound for introducing me to this tune! I'd ignored it.

I love strings so you had me worried , upon listening, at least they are real! [[ Or mostly real ?)

Perhaps they are too lingeringly 'sad' ?? not as uplifting as is the TSOP norm? Maybe Don Reynaldo wasn't at the helm....

I think I saw her on American Bandstand and she sang "She won't love you like I do".
I loved her. That was my favourite song for a couple of years, and when I listen to it now, I'm still intrigued by her voice and her range, and the music.

I agree. She is one of the most underrated female voices of the past 50 years or so. She also happens to be a very sweet natured lady whom i have had the pleasure of meeting many times.
