Stevie Wonder's Tribute to Marvin Gaye - Lighting Up the Candles

I just read Mark Ribowsky's biography on Stevie [[and it's great, get a chance to read it, it sure showed Stevie in a more complex way than he's usually depicted [[which makes his music even greater) and it was said that he had originally composed "Lighting Up the Candles" as a DUET with Marvin that he wanted to present to him.

I had heard Marvin was working on a duets album at the time of his passing. After his death, Stevie finished the song and sung it at his funeral in April 1984.

I wonder how Marvin would've sounded on the song. Guessing the lyric, "I believed we could've made it through that forever and a day but destiny and fate decided they would get in our way", was about him and Marvin. Since he wrote the LYRICS after Marvin's death, I'm gonna have to say it was.

I remember he sang it at Marvin Gaye's funeral. He would go on to sing "These Three Words" for David Ruffin's funeral.
