Not sure we need yet another Gladys and the Pips compilation, but if there is a market for it who am i to argue? I suspect this will be from their Buddah catalogue.

I feel the same, but just wonder about the economics of re-re-re-releasing already anthologized material, particularly when others are still in print. But, a new comp at a great price may indeed just nudge skeptical / unsure fans into a purchase, so cheers to them!

Thanks for the track list. I personally will pass since, as someone had predicted, this is latter-day Gladys. I would have been more interested in a Motown collection although as someone stated [[maybe the same person?) did we really NEED another Gladys collection of any type? If anybody is counting, this will be their third one with the title "Gold" not to mention a whole slew of other anthologies.

But that does not change my overall opinion on the subject...........keep those CDs coming, especially collections and good bargains!!!

It was me who said those things David. I stand by what i said, but i have to concede that this is an excellent compilation and i am pleased to see disc 3 devoted to the Columbia years. I have all the tracks but hopefully it will sell enough to warrant further compilations on other worthy artists.

Gladys has been well served by compilations and reissues of both Motown and Buddah material over the years and indeed you could argue that there’s no need for another ‘hits’ compilation. However this appeals to me also Bluebrock because it combines her Buddah tracks with some Columbia recordings. Plus it’s great value too, so I’ll be picking up a copy.

Bring along a Martha, a Marvelettes, or a Velvelettes compilation, and I will race all of you to the keyboard.......to heck with how many copies I might already have of every song! That is why I have already ordered my Dionne boxed set.

But I guess with Gladys, since I was first introduced to them on Motown, I could just never embrace them as much on the other labels.
