Today in Music History: Diana Ross and The Supremes score 12th No.1

The last number one song of the sixties was SOMEDAY WE'LL BE TOGETHER.

I didn't learn the 'last #1...' until a year or two ago. Quite an auspicious title and a gorgeous record that remains it's spine-chill factor even today.

The perfect recording and perfect ending of that era. What a beautiful arrangement and vocal. Regardless of who sang the backgrounds, it will always be Mary and Cindy. Loved it the first time I heard it and still do.

I remember my parents had a New Year's Eve party in 1969 and this record got played several times during the party.
