    Margie Joseph Christmas Song

Earlier today I was surfing through my Sirius XM channels and noticed that the Soul Music channel [[49 I think) has changed its format, I assume for the month of December, to Holiday Soul. Ordinarily I would not have been excited about that because I prefer to listen to what I want to hear and I can take Christmas music only in small doses.

But the first song I heard was by Margie Joseph and I had never heard it before or even heard of it. And of course wouldn't you know that now, several hours later, I cannot recall the title!! Anyway, they followed that up with a Patti Labelle and a Luther song. So it was an "OK" experience after all.

In the case of Margie it was probably the first thing I had ever heard by her on Sirius, since she was not exactly a top ten artist. But I liked her very much back in the day.

Margie had two Xmas songs: CHRISTMAS GIFT and FEELING LIKE CHRISTMAS. Both were written and produced by Lamont Dozier and can be found on the Cotillion album FUNKY CHRISTMAS. The album contains other Xmas songs by Lou Donaldson, John Edwards, the Impressions, Willis Jackson, and Luther.

The one I heard was Feeling Like Christmas. As for her earlier material, I liked Don't Turn the Light Off, Something to Fall Back On, and I Wants Mo' Stuff. Underrated singer who deserved a bigger mainstream career.

She was quite wonderful. a very distinctive and expressive vocalist who deserved to be a major star. I shall check out these Christmas tunes.
