Mary should record Gloria Lynne's "I Wish You Love". The little of it she sang here sounded great.

I agree, it sounded very good indeed.
It's interesting that as far as recording goes, Mary and Florence in a way shared the same kind of fate. Both recorded albums where the style of song highlighted their weaknesses as a vocalist not their strengths.

In their cases, I have to put the blame on the record companies and their misjudgement of what the public wanted. Florence should have been recording more soulful material, not "Yesterday", "Goin' Out of My Head" [[which was fine by the way). Mary's album would not be released until the tail end of the Disco era and the recordings sound rushed. Comparing that album with her "Up Close" CD, the difference is night and day. She's able to show off as a true vocalist and not merely chasing the current trend.

    I dug a little deeper.

On BBC Radio 4 it appears they have a program where their guests, when interviewed, talk about their inheritance Tracks; hence the definition "Celebrating the music that special guests cherish and would like to bestow to future generations."

Oh well, the term makes complete sense to me. I find the whole concept really enjoyable.

It's like, these are the songs you want future generations to hear and enjoy.
