The greatest living writer working in English has gone on to glory. What a massive, incalculable loss.

I met her in college. She had her famous guard up when I approached and started speaking, but I said to her, “You impress me in every way.” She finally bestowed that magnificent smile on me. The room lit up. I was never the same. Thank you, Toni Morrison, for changing the world and my life. Rest in power, ancestor.
