She is amazing though I don’t like the slower tempos.

Same here. I prefer when she sticks to the original arrangements. She did when I saw her in 2015.

I miss Bob Babbitt's bass riffs.

At the end of the original,
    it's just Gladys & Bob
    for an amazing ending

I do too. I got to see and hear Bob play one last time in July 2005 in Riverhead, NY when he was backing Mary Wilson up in concert there.

Marv, it's not for nothing that you posted two big covers from Gladys' discography. Why? Bear with me here. Cissy Houston, Whitney's mom, originally song "Midnight Train to Georgia"[[nee Midnight Train to Houston). And Marvin released "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" within a year or so [[or after) Gladys' version. Sounds like the makings of a new thread! I'm just saying.

Cissy's original was Midnight Plane To Houston.

Cissy's was Midnight Train To Georgia.... It was the songwriter Jim Weatherly who had Midnight Plane To Houston...

The slower tempos really get on my nerves with the ballads since they're not needed especially on Neither One of Us, she'd be throwing me off. Great vocal but doggone, nothing wrong with staying on beat lol

It’s still confusing. Did Cissy change it first or Gladys? Jim Weatherly interview https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TNjBZTl6h84&t=211s
