Search Your Mind was perfect for the Jean era Supremes

This song was recorded by the 70's female group the Fuzz but would have been perfect for Jean,Mary and Cindy.

I think you are right ! And with Jean in the lead , I hear 'hit' in it!! From 1971 , kind of ahead of its time a couple years.
[[ is it me or is there some thing off-key in the vocals?)

They also did a Motown cover:

This sounds to me like The Fuzz had been listening to the Supremes Frank Wilson produced albums.

I would have made a good Mary led song. It is clearly a departure from the Fuzz's earlier sound. This sounds like an imitation Frank Wilson production.

Looking at the photo of the Fuzz on that CD reminds me a bit of the Supremes iconic afro photo on the album "New Ways, But Love Stays".

Yes definitely can hear Jean and the ladies doing this one. I have the Fuzz's album and enjoy it very much, but admittedly I never paid much attention to this one. I am really feeling it!!

Barbara Gilliam passed away in 2008 [[she lead on the cover of "Stand By your Man" as the Passionettes who became the Fuzz).
The last I heard Sheila Young and Val Williams with Danielle Angelique Mims, performs for special one off events

    L-R Shelia, Barbara and Val

Val, Barbara and Shelia [[who was the main lead singer and who wrote their songs)

i'd love to hear MJC work with Carole King and sing I feel the earth move. the whole Tapestry album would have worked great for the girls. i think that would have been an amazing match for an outside producer.

Bobby Taylor did the sessions for It's Too Late and i think it's one of the stronger "promises kept" tracks. it's a beautiful song and jean is [[typically) wonderful on it. and the backing track and orchestration is also well done

they did a lot of work with Bobby during 1971. sometimes he was the sole producer and sometimes partnering with Frank Wilson

    Bobby only productions

Thanks, sup_fan. "And I Thought You Loved Me" is one of my favorite Jean vocals. It would have been great if Promises Kept had included that and other similar or equally good tracks. With Bobby Taylor on board, it might have leaned more R&B than Touch or Floy Joy.

not sure why Bobby focused on so many cover tunes with the girls. the productions def sound good. and of course there's the age-old question of how many of the duets were initially intended as a duet. or were two leads combined

here's what the girls recorded in 71. some tracks for the Touch lp were actually done in late 70
