    He obviously was only "king" in terms of chart success but even he would agree with Ray Charles here.

    Ray and many other black artists of that era - Little Richard being a main one - complained about how the media hyped dude up when rock and roll was mostly a black genre dating back to the late '40s [[though it didn't get its moniker until Alan Freed in 1951).

    But obviously Uncle Ray wasn't lying when he said this.
