So sorry to hear this. He was a great singer and entertainer and from what I've heard a great friend to many. May God rest his soul. My condolences to his family. Thank you Chuck!

    Hi!

This is what Mr. Sydney Barnes still kindly wanted to add to my tribute:

Very good article my friend, however he failed to tell you that he was a back up singer on the first Rotary Connection album on Chess's Cadet Concept label. Chuck was a great guy to be around. He will be missed. That's Chuck standing next to Minnie Riperton in the Chess studio.

    Sid Barnes

[[Sorry, I forgot how to post photos here. The photo is on my FB page, though).

    Best regards

Chuck and the Dells were also the background singers on Barbara Lewis' "Hello Stranger".

They also worked as background singers for Dinah Washington and toured with her.

    That's right, Marv.

They can also be heard on records by Betty Everett, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Wade Flemons, Andre Williams, Etta James, Joe Murphy, Ted Taylor, Cicero Blake, Jo Ann Garrett, Bobby Jones, the Opals etc., and even sang as the Players.

    Best regards

That's Jacques Brel's song "Ne me quitte pas" that was translated to English by Rod McKuen renamed "If You Go Away". This is a tremendous performance. Thank you!

Chuck had quite a life, not only being one of the Dells but also for a time being a groupmate of Marvin Gaye's with Harvey's Moonglows for a time. May he RIP!
