Norma Miller, "Queen of Swing," Dies at 99

I was holding out hope that this dancing, singing, acting, writing dynamo would make it to 100. She was a true treasure. Rest in power:

Sad news. I remember seeing her on SANFORD AND SON as well as in the film SPARKLE. Recently, she was interviewed in Whoopi Golberg's documentary on Moms Mabley.

Oh, yes, that "Lucky Lips" number in Sparkle gets me every time! Also, saw her interviewed for a Redd Foxx doc [[either "Unsung Hollywood" or "E! True Hollywood Story"). She had quite a journey.

She also posed in her birthday suit on one of Redd Foxx' album covers.

Oh, snap, that sure was her, wasn't it? That cover scandalized me as a child! She posed for a couple with Redd.

Great post; thanks Sans! One correction: it was I who created the Sugar Push. Really. I swear.

And stop the presses: Her own stand-up album, Healthy, Sexless and Single, is available on iTunes! I’m beside myself.
