    No One There lyrics

Does anyone know the lyrics to Martha and the Vandellas' "No One There"? I love the song but there are a few spots of the song where I cant quite make out the lyrics.

Here's my best shot at the lyrics to that beautiful song.

    No One There

I wait for footsteps, that I know will never come
I fix a meal for two, but the table’s set for one
Lies that I tell myself are the only sounds I hear
The future is hard to see when you’re looking through a tear
I serve some coffee two lumps with no cream to your chair
And I find no one there

I dial half your number, but I don’t complete the call
Is that you at the door? No, just the wind outside that’s all
Cars that use the driveway just to turn around
Talking to an emptiness makes such a lonely sound
Oh, lying in my darkened room with love I long to share
And I find no one there

Oh, every memory of love, o love, that use to touch we in the night
The kisses that kept me warm, arms that held me tight
Oh, the memory of your loving soul I search for everywhere
And I find no one there

A favorite of mine as well, but I would only be guessing.

A great song and Martha delivers it beautifully. I love the album although as usual there's some filler [["Your Love Makes it All Worthwhile" sounds like it was already in the can a few years before it got on the album).

I always thought the song "Benjamin" sounded like a movie theme. "No One There" almost sounds like a show tune. Unusual material for Martha which she made her own, although by her reporting many of the songs were intended for Diana Ross originally.
