The Fifth Dimension's 'The Declaration of Independence'

A day late [[and a dollar short!) but ... more importantly, with the 5th's lauded performance in Questlove's 'Summer of Soul', it's worthy to advise younger members here of just how ... transformative? Daring? Revolutionary? It was 50 years ago for a Black American singing group to dare, DARE!, to record the DOI.

Thanks for sharing this PHN. I have the Portrait album by The 5th Dimension which included "The Declaration" as part of a medley with Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" & The Rascals' "People Got To Be Free". So yes indeed, The 5th Dimension made a daring statement with this recording.

PS: Here's a article from Rolling Stone about The 5th Dimension [and their performance in Questlove's documentary, Summer Of Soul].
