All of these recordings went unreleased? Martha and the Vandellas were charged for them too I bet.

I do not think all of these went unreleased. Some of the item numbers above are shown with Hip-O-Select numbers which indicates to me that they were released eventually by HOS.

    Or am I confused?

That is virtually criminal to have them record all of that material that no one got to hear.

I agree. Much of the later material 1966-1972 is quite good. I just cant believe the vast amount of material they recorded and I am sure we will get a few more with the UMC Digital release 1969 later this year and 1970-1972 if Harry and co. get approval for thise years.

I see there is one unreleased recording with Gloria Williamson on lead. That would be interesting to hear.

Stunning when we hear all the things that were recorded and not released, but to put it all in perspective, recording went on at Motown virtually 24 hours a day, all in search of the PERFECT SONG to further an artist's career. Motown didn't believe in just releasing a so-so song and taking a chance. So with all that recording, where do you place all of it? You get roughly one album per year, 12 sides. In order to release EVERYTHING you'd have to pump out and flood the market with tons of 45s and albums to contain it all.

Thanks for putting that list together. I've lost track of what's been released since they started doing download-only releases. I think I have everything that's been put out on CD, but I've been meaning to double-check and also catch up on all the download-only stuff I haven't bothered getting yet. So many of my favorite Martha & The Vandellas songs have been the unreleased songs!

More than any other Motown artist, finding a 'new' Martha Reeves & The Vandellas track on a new release gets me the most excited. I'm still loving ' I'm So Glad It's Twilight Time' from Motown Unreleased 1967.
The quantity and quality of their vaulted material is incredible.

This is a great resource - thanks Aaron. Now all we have to do is add all the "released songs in the same order and we'll have a complete chronology of The Vandellas at Motown.

No, you're right Woodward. Some of those songs were eventually released on either 50th Anniversary-The Singles Collection, Lost And Found: Spellbound 1962-1972 or the UK "2-fers" of Come And Get These Memories/Heat Wave & Dance Party/Watchout!

Ha, I have been listening to that song a lot myself. It's my favorite new unreleased track by them.

YW. Working on Marvin Gaye and 70's Supremes too. It's just nice to have all the information in one spot though it would be better to have this material in one cd collection instead of all over the place but we know that wont happen.

Speaking of Marvin Gaye....If anyone could post the information for his version of "5, 10, 15, 20, Years Of Love" and "You're My Everything" that would be awesome. Those 2 songs dont appear to be on DFTMC and I have misplaced The Marvin Gaye Collection box set.
