Diana had the greatest exit of all of the halftime shows. She left on a helicopter! Can't top that.

Diana made super bowl history twice. She was the first pop star to sing the national anthem. She was also the first female artist to perform the full halftime show.

She was the only artist to fly bare air at the Super Bowl

    That would have been scary

    How far did she fly?

I don't know, but the album she was promoting at the time crashed and burned in front of the largest national audience of the year! LOL!

well her album,Take Me Higher ,did far better than her former partners.
but overall, I think the show was good, but to many older songs. she needed to promote the new album and she should have concentrated on the newer songs with a few big hits such as Upside down . she should have dropped I Will Survive.
I did like Chain Reaction here. it seem to have more energy n pop

I don't recall her former partners being there. I know she looked like a fool for not being able to get even the slightest bump in sales after her Super Bowl appearance. This had to have pissed Motown off.

I remember the performance well. Superb as usual. Girl hit all the notes, all the steps, and, most importantly, the hand straps on the helicopter! There's only one reason why Diana was the most successful of all the Supremes and most fellow Motowners. She has the most talent. Deal.

Good call. That attention seeking individual cannot help himself. Just ignore him. That will piss him off. He wants to start yet another argument. Do not give him the ammunition.

Was and is. BUT ... at that point Diana had been in the public eye for decades, was 50, and radio just isn't kind to even mega-stars of that age. I'm just glad we have this superb LP!

It would be great to see her perform at the Super Bowl again. That performance last night was so mediocre even my puke was like "meh, not worth it". How god-awful do today's "musicians/performers" have to be before the general public just gives up on music altogether? There's a lot of dreck out there these days, but are you really telling me that's the best they could do? Wow.

I wasn't gonna watch the SB anyway but I heard that the performance was really weak sauce and the NFL has had to reupload the video of Maroon 5 and nem because folks kept disliking it. LMFAO!!!

When Diana performed, she put on a show! Today's performers think all it takes to get a crowd off is yelling and taking shirts off... uh no! LOL

Ha - so true. But it's truly difficult to be compassionate about anyone who wastes their life trying [[unsuccessfully) to demean another human being.

Take Me Higher suffered from just not being good enough to compete. Diana was at an age where Black female vocalists, in particular, were forced out to pasture and oldies shows. In order to get any real attention in an industry that was so youth focused, she needed to go the extra mile. That's why Aretha, Patti, and even Gladys were still having some measure of success during this same time period. They were finding projects that still held some electricity. Diana was no longer electric on record. She was asked to do the Super Bowl because despite not having a hit in years, she was still one of the biggest and most iconic music artists in the entire world. The NFL knew she would contribute to the ratings and she didn't disappoint. People still loved seeing Diana doing her thing, they just didn't give a crap about her music. I blame her for that.
