There's another clip of them doing "I Hear a Symphony" and it's very good.

The Blossoms were not impostors. They were a sanctioned group and primarily did background vocals on tons and tons of hits during that time. Also, in the 60's there was a show called "Shindig" and they were generally on the show every week. They sang all the hits tailored for girl groups. It was very common during that time. Below is a link from YouTube where I searched for "The Blossoms on Shindig."

It doesn't suit them and they look uncomfortable...they rocked behind Marvin on the TAMI Show...

I remember seeing this when it first aired, but I didn't remember that Jean took the lead. Her voice was probably better suited to the song than Darlene's would have been. No matter who was guesting on Shindig, I always tuned in for The Blossoms and The Righteous Brothers, who were weekly regulars. They always turned in good performances. I liked the fact that each individual member of these groups was often given a solo spot, not just a lead.

I think Jean is on lead for this one. She's a little over the top with her Ross impression. Overall it's not bad though.

I wonder when this aired. Prior to the Supremes appearance on Sullivan?

Yes, this predated the Sullivan appearance by months. "Baby Love" was still riding the charts when this aired, and "Come See About Me" had not yet been released.

My recollection is that The Supremes might have appeared on Shindig before Sullivan, but I could be mistaken on that; memory is vague now. Sullivan was their first live, coast-to-coast appearance, and was what put them firmly on the national map.

You're correct. They sang BABY LOVE and COME SEE ABOUT ME in the same Shindig! episode. Not sure of the month, probably October or November.

The first Sullivan appearance was on 12/27/64.

A YouTube poster dated this Shindig appearance as 11/64 and that sounds about right. This would then predate Sullivan by a month.
