    Martha in Paisley

Oh dear lord!!!! Martha’s performances these days are truly one of a kind and almost surreal. No one but her has the courage, nerve and self belief to get on stage and sing all the great classics the way she does. Martha manages to make the songs feel & sound totally different from back in the golden years when she first sang them. It really is quite extraordinary! People who haven’t seen her recently are in for the shock of their lives!

I assume this in tongue in cheek.

The only thing I can add to the discussion is that I've seen Martha in concert twice. She didn't sound like the records from 50 years prior. Nor did I expect her to.

But what she lacked in sound, she over compensated in personality. And class.

After both concerts she sat and personally greeted every single audience member. Photos and autographs and stories. The last person in line just as important as the first, not leaving until everyone got their 5 minutes.

She could auto tune. She could retire. But this legend and treasure doesn't, and won't. Kind of like someone who's proud of their wrinkles or their battle scars. She's aged and she's unapologetic. And still packs the house.

I'd see her again in a heartbeat.

    Very well said, Mary.

As always, a post from you which is a pleasure to read.

Keeping it real, yet without being negative.

    Just like Martha herself.

I do wish she wouldn't take such liberties with her classics, but Martha is a law unto herself and woe be unto anyone who might suggest to her that she do otherwise. You have to hand it to her; she makes her own rules.

I’d assume everyone hear loves her. Can’t she get some vocal coaching? Would that help?

I've seen her twice in Minneapolis and will go back again. She and her sisters put on a great show and as MaryBrewster said she has time for all of her fans. Even if it means the next show has a delayed start. It's a fun evening and her sets change, so it's always different. I have never heard her sing No One There before in concert..I liked it.

She always does 'No One There' in her UK shows. It was turntable hit back in the day.

One thing about Martha is she's become such a great live performer and she brings energy to the classics that I haven't seen others do [[besides Tina Turner and she's retired). Martha is a true original and I love it when she and her sisters sing together. No One There remains a favorite of Martha tunes.

For sure. We're keeping our eyes open. Did see Ronnie Spector last year.
