10 years since the death of Levi Stubbs

October 17 marked a whole decade since my favorite has been gone. Certainly not the same old songs since the person who sang them has been gone.

Here's one that has Levi and the Tops singing with Aretha. I always felt this would have been a huge hit:

Thank you for the incredible photo. I assume Levi looked good. I heard someone said he looked a little younger.

You are welcome. He looked like a king lying in state. Expertly trimmed beard, jet black suit and shoes and bright gold necktie.

One of my favourites too - it wouldn't be possible to put more feeling into a vocal.

I love this version. They took it from a rock to a soul song.

I remember, back in the day, a Motown fan commenting that they had seen the Four Tops performing on TV. The camera also showed Levi sitting in the audience in his wheelchair, crying. That was a tough one to hear. My heart went out to him, for sure.

Tears still fill my eyes when I watch this DVD, and even more as you see the tears roll down Dear Levi's face.
