great to finally see them in color! while not my favorites i do think they look contemporary. this is 72 and so i think they are inline with current fashion. problem is they're not glamorous or "supreme"

if their sound and live appearances had evolved more during this time, the new look MIGHT have worked. but reverting back to TCB, You're Nobody and other DRATS tunes was a poor decision. made the girls sound out of date.

they also did those chiffon dresses from Kate Smith and touch/model of year, the deep purple dresses from Flip Wilson doing Lean On Me. the beige dresses with the feather jackets from Sonny & Cher and Your Wonderful Sweet Sweet Love

those were the only gowns commissioned for Lynda.

I never saw them wear those, but I did see them on a rack backstage at Valley Forge and wondered what they were for as they seemed to be quite casual for stage. It’s great to see a color pic of them in use as they look much better on. I never saw them anywhere after Scherrie arrived. Mary looks perfect in them.

i agree that on stage, they'd be quite dull. maybe if it was a smaller club but the grove was rather large. and you want the costume to have impact all the way to the people in the back row - hence sequins and glitter

when Scherrie arrived and they got those mint green ball gowns [[as i describe them lol) they had to repeatedly have them altered. the green chiffon skirts were too plain and got lost on stage and under the lights. so they added starbusts of sequins.

wonder who was leading the discussions on their look and stagewear during the MJL days. i've heard that Jean wasn't as comfortable in the sequin gowns and preferred pants. maybe she also preferred a more casual appearance and prompted the change

I recall seeing this show on tv at the time. Anyone else remember seeing it? I wonder is there any footage.

The glittery ones are nice; the others look like granny-dress rejects.

Maybe a daytime television show or rehearsal for a television show.

Those gowns are my second least favorite. The Ragdoll gowns are # 1 most hated.

The above gowns did not fit in anywhere.
They looked like something they wore around the house or to bed or those things they use to call Moo Moo. When I remember seeing them I thought someone was pregnant.
