MICHAEL JACKSON MUSICAL Arrives On Broadway In 2020

A musical exploration of the life and catalog of Michael Jackson is heading to Broadway. The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage have partnered to develop a musical inspired by the pop icon; the show is expected to bow in New York in 2020.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage [[Sweat, Ruined) will pen the book for the musical, which will incorporate Jackson's myriad hits. An American in Paris Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon has been tapped to direct and choreograph.

No word yet on casting or any pre-Broadway engagements.

Donna Summer currently has a musical on Broadway. Cher will have one in November and Tina Turner has one currently playing in London. And of course, the touring Motown The Musical.

Yes, 'Beautiful', and it's superb. Far exceeded it's original estimated run of 1 year. I've seen it twice and I NEVER go to a Bwy show twice. I wouldn't attend the MJ thing if you paid me.

I love the fact that the legacy of Michael Jackson will only grow from here... only thing I dread is if they do a biopic on him and they get lazy with the researching and just take their bits from trashy tabloids that didn't quite get what MJ was going through health wise and body wise... but I love this in principle.

How could I forget "Beautiful"? Great music and a great book. I saw it three times. I have high hopes for the Michael Jackson musical. It may not be just a "juke box musical".
Lynn Nottage most likely will supply a strong book to supplement Michael's music
