I probably have at least a couple of dozen albums that Reggie was involved with.

Oh damn, sorry to hear this. Reggie wrote and produced one of my fave Four Tops songs, "Don't Turn Away", from 1985's Magic.

    Rest in peace Reggie.

Quite a few songs by Reggie come to mind. How about this one, a favorite of mine by Phyllis Hyman ----

    RIP Reggie Lucas and THANKS.

Boogie, how could we forget that CLASSIC, what a track!!!

I also love "Can't Shake This Feeling" by The Spinners, produced by James Mtume and Reggie Lucas. I love the little string-horn combo thing in this, it's only a few seconds long but I love it. You can hear it at the 2:30 Mark here. I hope someone else knows what I'm talking about

I'm kind of surprised you rate it as a classic or even know about it for that matter Tom Tom as it was mainly a club record. Shamefully, it did not even make the Billboard Hot 100. Maybe it did better in the UK?
OK , What about this one, also a club smash

Lucas and Mtume put a lot of effort into Stephanie Mills career.

added:the Spinners from 81, good stuff and last chance for using strings and horns before it becomes old school

Uh, Boogie, I was a regular club goer as an unborn -25 year old foetus, geez

I really don't know why I know "You Know How To Love Me" so well. I just checked and it was only a relatively minor hit here in the UK [[#47) in 1980. In fact I had definitely heard it before I actively went and bought the album that it was on. I've definitely heard it on the radio before. To me, ITS JUST A CLASSIC, wooooooh

However, I have never heard of / heard that Stephanie Mills track before. So there you go.

By the way, I LOVED that Stephanie Mills song, I did not like the intro [[Giorgio Morodee anyone? ) but it got significantly better as the song went on. It sounds like a Phyllis Hyman track from the same time and I could hear her singing it.

    Hi Tom Tom !
I meant to add , that besides being surprised , I was IMPRESSED that Phyllis' song rated so highly with you, especially you being so young, meaning it's surprising you even found it at all. It's regrettable it did so poorly then and will therefore forever be one of the ones that got left behind.
And i'm also pleased you like Stephanie's song! Here's the way it first appeared on the album as Lucas/Mtume intended:

Give it a listen if you're interested and see if anything about its composition stands out to you. [[ Hint : it's 1979 and sounds are changing) Gotta go , but I'll be back to explain !

[[Second hint: reteading your post, you've touched upon it some already)
