By all accounts, Alvin Robinson was responsible for getting Shorty Long's music career started.
It seems Alvin taught Shorty how to play the guitar & gave him encouragement that helped him land gigs at the Old Stables club in Birmingham [[in the late 50's). Soon after [[59), Shorty headed for Detroit, met up with Harvey Fuqua and started his recording career.
How & where Alvin and Shorty's lessons / collaboration happened now seems to be lost in the mist of time. Back then, Alvin was in NOla, while Shorty was in Birmingham and the cities are almost 350 miles apart.
Anyone here have any more details ??
I've also no idea where this track by Alvin was cut [[most probably in NY, though by May 68, Alvin had been LA based for a while) ...
