    Yeah, Joplin deserves a fuller treatment than this. And Billy Dee must have lost teeth chewing the scenery. I found Clifton Davis appealing, as usual, however.

    It was fun catching the Motown and Motown-adjacent cameos. I caught The Commodores [[blink and you'll miss 'em @ 28:37) and Rita Ross [[in an "under five" @ 53:51), but can someone pinpoint Denise Gordy for me? She's billed rather unhelpfully as "The Girl." At least Rita got "Girl with Note"!

    I think it is Denise, beginning at 22:11.

    I was a teenager in high school at the time. Movies like the original "Star Wars", "Close Encounters....", "Saturday Night Fever" were out around this time, so comparatively speaking, I just did not get excited over this movie. I only saw it once when it was new.
