I have several. A high school teacher and I regret I don't remember his name. Aretha. School friends Teena Walker and Quentin Evans. Diana. Adult-life friends Arthur Frazier, Daun, Javon. Harriet Tubman. Many current fiction and non-fiction authors. Tina. And more.

    My parents!

Soul Brother Number One, James Brown. Words cannot describe what this little dark child felt upon hearing for the first time on the radio, "Um with your bad self, say it loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud." Just writing about this brings tears to my eyes.
