    Shortest and Longest Song Titles

I was wondering what Motown songs had the shortest and the longest titles, including songs leased out to other labels and album tracks?

I come up with "He" by DRATS, "It" by Ron and Bill and "As" by Stevie Wonder for shortest and "A Breath Taking, First Sight Soul Shaking, One Night Love Making, Next Day Heartbreaking Guy" by the Supremes for longest title.

Any others off the tops of your heads?

Technically the Supremes' song, also covered by The Marvelettes by the way, is only titled "A Breath Taking Guy", so I would think the other titles mentioned would have it beat.

I still can't believe they actually used the whole lyric as a song title. What on earth were they thinking?! LOL, you can barely fit it on the 7" label

You guys never miss a trick do you? [[And I mean that as a compliment.)

But I was just going by the Where Did Our Love Go cover, and I cannot think of any compilations I have ever seen that have the extended title. Could it be that the 45 was printed that way just so they could emphasize the catchiness and the sing-a-long nature of the song?

I think the 45 was printed that way because that may have been the official title that Smokey gave it. And then when someone realized it was a ridiculous official title for a song, certainly too long of a title on a 45, Motown pulled it and released it with the shorter title.

I came across this track recently and thought it might be a contender for the longest Motown song title EVER!!!

[[I Wanted To Be A Rock And Roll Star) Woman I Still Got Loving You On My Mind - Willie Hutch

You are good. Way more titles than I ever would have thought and in one post. Then I had to laugh at that 2-letter short title tossed in at the end.

You wonder if the printers may have felt Motown had lost its ever-lovin' mind.

Had this been released on April 1st, well, NOBODY would have taken it seriously.

If those printers charged by the word then Motown surely lost money on this one!
