There are some massively overplayed Christmas classics here in the UK, some of which I really like, but am sick of hearing, lol

My faves of the classics are probably...

"Step Into Christmas" by Elton John
"All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey
"I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" by Wizzard
"Merry Christmas Everyone" by Shakin' Stevens

This year I have gone away and collated a Christmas playlist, so here are some of my newfound Christmas faves...

    "Christmas Gift" by Margie Joseph
"Christmas Just Ain't Christmas" by The O'Jays
"Having A Christmas Party" by Teddy Pendergrass
"What Christmas Means To Me" by Stevie Wonder or Cee Lo Green [[can’t decide!)

I think my favourite overall Christmas song might be "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" which I have about 10 versions of, including by The Supremes, Lou Rawls, KC & The Sunshine Band, even Bootsy Collins!!

Hands down...Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas.” No covers, only his original. That is all. 😁

The Staple Singers' "Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas?" is being used in a Christmas advert this year... I love the song but am not sure about its message...

If I were picking favorites by decades, this would be my favorite from the 80s:

Way Luciano! LOL! There has been something bugging me about this particular recording for a while. I am almost certain I remember hearing it first as a kid sometime in the late 60s. I cannot find any information on when it was recorded and originally released. I have found it on a Christmas album they released on Buddha in 1973, but I could have sworn I heard it years before 1973. Help anyone?

Marv - I found this 45 saying it was issued in 1974. I believe with "Silent Night". I can't find anything before that year.

I think this is my favorite Christmas song. Charles Brown's "Please Come Home for Christmas" but I have about 30 I like to hear every year.

Luciano, that's the problem I've been having. I can't find out the actual recording date anywhere. I am pretty sure that I heard it much earlier than 1973-74. I was still in grade school when I heard it by Gladys and the Pips.

This totally underplayed Christmas song from 2013 called 'Santa, let's leave it at that' yes, by The Delgonives. Only had one airplay wordwide. Think Beach Boys and is a derivative of 'Libby, let's leave it at that':

For me, my number one Christmas album I listen to year after year is the Salsoul Orchestra's "Christmas Jollies". Especially the 12-minute long Christmas medley and 7-minute New Years medley contained within.
