Gift Ideas Needed-- Dusty? Connie? Helen? Olivia? Anne?

I am shopping for that impossible person who already has extensive material by all the above ladies, but hasn't bought much of anything in the last few years. Therefore I am wondering about what might have been released fairly recently that could have some previously un-issued material. Or maybe just a new booklet or entertaining liner notes. Even a book might do instead of a recording. Just anything that a completist might not have and would appreciate. Any ideas??

Real Gone Music [[US) recently released Dusty Springfield's Philadelphia sessions. It includes a newly unearthed track from that time called "Sweet Charlie". I don't recommend the set in general, but if your friend already owns the material on it, he still might appreciate the "new" track.

I did come across that one and gave it some thought. Any interesting liner notes or booklet with that release?

How about Judy Garland 'The London Studio Recordings' set, or the new Ella Fitzgerald 'Live at Zardi's'? There's also a new compilation of Dinah Washington/Quincy Jones, 'The Complete Sessions'. A tad more obscure would be the Judy Henske set 'Big Judy: How Far This Music Goes' or the Ann-Margaret 'Definitive Collection'.

How about Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life" 40th Anniversary [[Expanded) CD reissue by Real Gone Music, available as of yesterday [[December 8). This is the first time Debby's Platinum album has been available on CD, and it's jam-packed with 25 tracks -- 4 of which are Motown recordings.

The mastering on this is disappointing and i therefore join smallworld in only tentatively recommending this set. If he is a real Dusty fanatic he will probably be grateful for the "new" track, but in all honesty it isn't that great.
